Review

Very hip!! This is Brazilian Bossa Nova breakbeats meets Eastern Buddhist Inidan sitar! This is certainly an international album because it encompasses a variety of world music instrument. Coming from America's own capitol DC, Ron and Eric's success seems surprising yet reasonable. When I went to Paris last summer, virtually all nightclubs were playing "Lebanese Blonde" featuring the stone-sexy voice of Pam Bricker, a friend of mine. No wonder why Thievery's more known in Japan, Europe, and San Francisco than the rest of the United States.

While Pam Bricker's vocal in "Lebanese Blonde" is the unaccidental highlight of the album, "So Com Voce" also features the hip and groovy Bebel Gilberto on vocals. The whole album grooves on loops, providing a trippy and laid-back feeling, something Thievery always brings to their own venue, the notorious Eighteen Street Lounge in Washington DC.

Like America soccer team's success in the 2008 Korea/Japan World Cup games, Thievery's music withstandsEuro-trash techno and electronica. This is American music at it best, because it goes beyond American.
