Review
Why is this here, one may ask? George Michael ain't a jazz musician. No, he isn't, but he surely can sing. He has trouble being out of breath sometimes, but that makes his voice distinct. Yes, his singing is more mature now then ever. And his musical aspirations have risen considerably since the last time we heard from him. He does a good job on these standards, with the help from producer Phil Ramone, who also produced Sinatra's "Duets" album. What a treat! Michael entertains us here with a ever more jazzy version of "Roxanne," "Secret Love," and "My Baby Just Cares For Me." The arrangements for these songs from the 20th century are immaculate. So why only a B+? Well, this is a solid B+, a good B+. Highly recommended on sleepless nights.
