Review
I
got this CD by chance. Days before I bought it, I saw
John Scofield performing at DC's Blues Alley
playing the song "Green Tea." The song was
such a tribute to Grant Green it stuck out during
the whole show and the melody was deeply rooted in my
head. I found the CD at Tower Records at a discount
price (I wouldn't buy it if it wasn't on discount) plus
there was a free CD offer. To my surprise, this album
is pretty darn good. It must rank with the top amongst
my other funk albums. The songs are funky and Hans Ulrik
produces such a unique groove sounds with his sax. All
the other players shine here, and all the them contribute
to the compositions. This is an all-star group, like
Weather Report, or a rock all-star band. But
the players don't steal from each other. They play with
heart and wait for their solos. Interestingly, this
is an import item and is produced by a Scandanavian
jazz company called Sundance. So if you see this at
a CD store anywhere at a relatively cheap price, buy
it and you won't regret it.
