Paul
Simon- Concert in Central Park [LIVE] [2CD]
November 5, 1991
Original Release Date: 1991
Review
Warm envrionment when Paul Simon gets so "close"
to roughly 100,000 people in Central Park on August
15th, 1991. That was history. It's uncertain Simon has
the glow to do it again. So history is history, and
let's talk about it. I could easily categorize this
CD in the "World Music" section because the
concert indeed can't work without the dedication of
the African musicians. Feel the wild African heat and
passion and the percussion is full of energy immediately
illustrated in the first song, "The Obvious Child."
Also check out the gospel version of "Bridge Over
Troubled Water," it's ever groovy. The rest combines
Simon's original tunes, each with an African touch.
Besides the talented African musicians, it features
familiar names such as Steve Gadd on drums, Chris
Botti on trumpet, Michael Brecker on sax
and Richard Tee on keyboards. This concert is
one of heat and passion. The best African/American music
in a long time. I hope we're all "Born At The Right
Time" to listen to this CD. This CD gives you a
positive and upbeat attitude towards life and you'll
say, "Life is good."
