Review
Why
is this soundtrack so special, at least to me? Well,
this is probably the only score soundtrack I can listen
to from start to finish without taking a break or skipping
the tracks. James Horner's best work ever and his orchestration
is so full-throttled and patroitic, which suits Edward
Zwick's film well. Indeed, the theme is used many times
in other movie trailers. The theme has become an icon
for symphonic patriotism and nationalism, which I think
is politically incorrect. This movie is not about a
triumph of America, but instead celebrates the struggle
of blacks in the army. The cadence of the film is clearly
and symmetrically defined. You find toughness and softness
in the same place. "Closing Credits," featuring
the Boys Choir of Harlem, brings all the goodness of
the score together and gives it a strong finish. This
is a good soundtrack to listen to if you want to bolster
your company's morale. For a more technical point-of-view
