Review
Perhaps the best Cuban vocalist alive, Ibrahim Ferrer
delivers a tour-de-force performance that tops this
BVSC album on the world music. Many of my friends, including
a Cuban friend, call this the best BVSC album in the
series. I must agree. Not only is this a brilliant vocal
album, Ferrer's deep touching teaches us a lesson of
"emotion." He knows how to use his voice emotionally,
move us in the most profound way, reflect our best moments
in life, and remember our most romantic times with our
loved ones. The highlight of this masterpiece includes
"Silencio," a duet with Omara Portuondo,
"Aquellos Ojos Verdes," a sentimental piece
once performed by Nat King Cole.
What
is music? The answer is simple: Ibrahim Ferrer is the
epitome of all music. His soulful voice explains why
music brings people together absent language and sans
frontiers. Listening to this album is itself an unforgettable
and enjoyable experience.
