Review
This album
demonstrates that age gap is NO PROBLEMO in Brazilian
music. As we know, Samba and Bossa Nova are timeless
music. This reunion of one of Brazil's most prolific
living legends Roberto Menescal proves to be a timeless
event, too. This time, with his son Marcio Menescal
and his band BossaCucaNova, the quartet is able to produce
the most upbeat sounds and coolest rhythms that will
keep you feet tapping throughout the hot summer. Menescal
performs on his vintage guitar with many songs he wrote
himself, including the funky "Telefone" that
immediately captures your attention. The living room
ambiance is fantasic, making the band sounds so funked
up. No wonder why Menescal suggests we should "PLAY
IT LOUD!!!" Let's try to appreciate the "new"
rendition of the "old" Brazilian classics
and like 18th Street Lounge, let's try to bring this
cool music into resurgence. Life is short, be a Brazilian
(i.e. carefree, relaxed, laidback) for once. You won't
regret it.
